Chinese food at my house is usually a wild card--some days it's a win, others... not so much. But Oriental Garden? Oh, it's a game-changer! It's the only spot that my entire family agrees on, and trust me, that's no small feat. The food is absolutely mouthwatering, and the prices won't leave your wallet crying. Here's the kicker: the leftovers! Normally, leftovers get the side-eye, but with Oriental Garden, they vanish faster than a plate of freshly made dumplings. My must-haves? The beef chow fun (so saucy and satisfying), shrimp fried rice (loaded with flavor), lemon chicken (zesty perfection), and beef and broccoli (classic comfort). Oh, and those crispy egg rolls? I'll never pass up the chance to munch on those crunchy little bites of heaven. If you're tired of the cookie-cutter Chinese food from Panda Express and want to experience the real deal, Oriental Garden is calling your name. Hands down, the best Chinese food in San Jose--go treat yourself!

This restaurant caters to the Caucasian palate and is far from Chinese food, but I already knew this before coming here so I won't hold it against them. This place is extremely pricey for what you get. Dinner for 4 (2 appetizers + 4 dishes)was $150+. My grandma would be rolling in her grave. I came here with my family on a Wednesday evening around 6PM for dinner. The place was empty when we arrived and we were the only dine-in patrons for a while. The hot and sour soup ($...) had potential - it tasted great to start, but had a weird iron-y aftertaste (think blood aka no bueno). I also found a think black hair mid-way through eating my soup. The pork fried rice ($....) was anything, BUT fried. It was literally steam white rice with some slivers of stir-fried pork. The beef chow fun ($....) was good, but a little too sweet and saucy for my liking. It was also missing her wok/charred flavor. The Chinese chicken salad ($....) had The fried prawns ($....) didn't taste fresh and had a strange seafood-y taste to them. The potstickers ($......) It's located in an abandoned-looking strip mall with plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The signage reads "Orient Garden." A

Very very friendly service over the phone and in person for a pick up order. We enjoyed all the food we ordered and would easily come again. Their website has outdated prices. See photos attached to this review for updated menu and prices.

I didn't take any pictures because the ones on here do a great job! We came in on a Saturday afternoon , was attended to, and served within 20 minutes. We got the beef & broccoli, combo sweet and sour plate, bbq pork fried rice, and egg rolls, and pork fried rice. This was for two people and was definitely enough! There is parking in the front and when we went there was a small celebration happening and we still found parking in front. Definitely did the trick and will be back!

Was craving Chinese food but since the usual spots have been respecting federal holidays lately, i decided to try a local restaurant! Oriental Garden is right on Bascom. Parking isn't super roomy but it wasn't bad! Food was noiceeee a solid 8.5/10 overall Kung Pao Chicken 9/10: Really flavorful, just a bit of kick to it. Everything has been coated in sauce evenly and sautéed well together, but without excessive oil. Small crunchy bits that I think were apples were a tad off-putting for me, but the girlfriend really liked it! Walnut Prawns (Honey Walnut Shrimp) 8/10: Pretty dang good as far as this dish goes. You might notice I went for super basic dishes as one does when testing a new restaurant hehe. Crab Puff (Crab Rangoon) 8/10: Okay it took me a second to realize their "Crab Puff" on the menu is what folks usually call a Rangoon elsewhere- but regardless it was good and the crab filling appeared to be real crab, not imitation. Filling appeared to be small in volume though and it was fried to the point where the shell was kind of overly hard, not a crisp, edible texture that I'd hoped for. Still, great service from the lady working the counter and you can tell this place has been around forever from the interior's aging. (I mean this in a good way, they're doing things right!) Definitely a homey, solid spot if you're in South SJ

I'm giving five stars for what I ordered. Chinese Sausage Fried Rice, Green Beans, Mongolian Beef & Hot & Sour Soup. Everything that I ordered were on point in taste. It's fresh, tasty. Without overpowering saltiness or greasiness. The service is attentive and kind. Ambiance is clean, quiet and relaxing with a waterfall backdrop and a soft music playing. Again, this is an authentic moment and pop Chinese restaurant. Parking is easy.

Last night, Monday, December 18, 2023. I stopped in and ordered potstickers and the House egg foo young to go. The wait was not very long and I was soon on my way home. The food was delicious as always!

Daughter and I were wanting to go back for a 2nd visit. Made a trip after school today : ) Very quiet again today, only one other person. Restaurant is cute and the waitress nice and attentive. We got 2 entrees and one side of rice. We chose the sweet sour chicken with the veggies, orange chicken again and the beef fried rice again. Everything was served in the middle of the table like a family style. We were stuffed and didn't finish so we took some of the chicken home. It was $55 for the 2 entrees, beef fried rice and 2 cokes. Kinda pricey for me? but this place is really worth it! Gonna come back to try other things on the menu : )

Whether you do takeout or eat in, you won't be disappointed. All the food is made fresh, and has a delightful complexity of flavor to it. Service is great. I've never had to wait for a table (sadly...c'mon people...show up!) I really love all their prawn dishes. One friend I go with always orders the same thing and they know what she wants and how she likes it. They take care of their regulars. And they do have lunch specials. Bring your appetite.

The crispy egg rolls are also a must-try. The leftovers are so good that they disappear quickly! If you're looking for authentic Chinese cuisine that beats the cookie-cutter options, Oriental Garden is the place to go.

On the flip side, Shins T. had a mixed experience and felt the pricing was on the higher side. While some dishes like the beef chow fun were good, others fell short in taste and presentation. The restaurant's location in an abandoned-looking strip mall didn't help improve the overall experience.

Despite some mixed reviews, Oriental Garden continues to impress with friendly service, tasty dishes, and a cozy atmosphere. Whether you're craving classics like Kung Pao Chicken or adventurous options like Walnut Prawns, this restaurant has something for everyone. Give Oriental Garden a try for a satisfying Chinese dining experience in San Jose.
